Dr. Cheryl Carlton, a native of Mount Carmel, Illinois, graduated from MacMurray College in 1994 majoring in both Chemistry and Biology. Dr. Carlton received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1998 from Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD). She went on to continue her education in Preventive and Community Dentistry, receiving a Certificate from IUSD in 1999. While studying to receive her certificate, she was a pre-clinical instructor in the areas of complete denture, fixed prosthodontics, and oral radiology.
Dr. Carlton practiced dentistry in both Warsaw and Granger, Indiana before joining Goshen Family Dentistry in 2004.
She enjoys studying the latest that dentistry has to offer in order to keep on the cutting edge in the many different disciplines. Dr. Carlton is artistically talented and has taken many cosmetic dental classes including a hands-on live patient course at the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum (Pac-Live). She strives to make sure her patients are comfortable. One way she achieves this is through Oral Sedation. Dr. Carlton has received additional training for this discipline through DOCS Education. Always trying to stay up to date, Dr. Carlton has additional training in Digital Dentistry through C-Docs (formally Cerec Doctors) and Sirona World. Dr. Carlton is also a member of Spear Education, an education group for dentists that are dedicated to the pursuit of clinical excellence in dentistry.
Over the years, it has been a privilege to use her profession to give back where she can. Dr. Carlton has participated in the Smiles for Life Foundation’s Annual Campaign to raise money for sick and underprivileged children. In 2002, Dr. Carlton was recognized for helping to raise over $20,000 for the Smiles for Life Foundation. The American Dental Association sponsored, Give Kids a Smile Program is another way Dr. Carlton has been able to help the under-served children in our community. Through the Donated Dental Services Program, Dr. Carlton has been able to work with handicapped adults to help with their dental needs.
While Dr. Carlton is away from the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Mark, and two adorable children. Dr. Carlton is active in her church. She has served on several committees over the years. Currently she is on the Stewardship Committee. Occasionally she will play in the orchestra and sings in the choir. She served on the Alumni Board at her college, MacMurray College for 11 years. Where she was Co-Chair of the Awards Committee. Currently Dr. Carlton, serves on the Scholarship Committee for the MacMurray College Foundation and Alumni Association. She also has served on the Board of Directors for Greencroft Communities – Goshen Campus. Dr. Carlton loves to read non-fiction books and listens to podcasts on personal development in her spare time. You can often find her at the local arts and crafts stores, planning her next creation. She loves doing anything artsy from painting, knitting, flower arranging, to cake decorating.
